Questions? We have answers.
What is a digital signature?
A digital signature is a more secure electronic signature that is generated using a digital certificate and cryptographically bound to the document using public key infrastructure (PKI). The digital certificate is unique to the signer and obtained from a trusted third-party such as a trust service provider (TSP) or certificate authority (CA) after verification of the signer’s identity.
Is there a difference between electronic and digital signatures?
Electronic signatures are any electronic methods of agreeing to a document or contract.
Digital signatures are a more secure type, using encryption and digital certificates (PKI) to verify identity and ensure document integrity.
What is a cloud signature?
Cloud signatures are digital signatures where the signer’s certificate is securely managed by a trusted service provider (TSP) in the cloud. Based on open standards from the Cloud Signature Consortium (CSC), they offer the same trust level as traditional digital signatures—without the need for physical tokens. Users can sign documents directly from a mobile device or browser.
