Making all your efforts to get your SEO strategy in place can take a while. The one thing is understanding all the rules which frequent change by Google and others. User behavior changes with new trends and algorithms are updated frequently. This results in a lot of efforts we need to do to stay on top of the list.

An infographic by SEO agency advisor SEO Tribunal puts relevant 72 stats into one place for your reference.

Let’s have a look at the infographic and see what we can learn today. Back in the year 1993, the first search engine was launched by Archie Query Form. One of the most popular search engines Google was only launched 5 years later. Even the Russians with Yandex went on the market earlier, back in 1997. The youngest member on the popular list is Bing, which is owned by Microsoft and launched after a merger with Yahoo in 2009. But the question stays open, do I need to understand all of them to be successful with my SEP strategy in 2018?

However, the late start of Google did not put them in a bad spot. Google algorithms are the most famous since they are the most used search engine.  Algorithms updates got famous since 2005 when they introduced personalized search, XML sitemaps, Google local, and the nofollow attribute. Google launched in 2009 real-time search and 2011 a big update shaken the market when 12% of search results had been effecting from the update. Since 2016 a self-learning RankBrain is tweaking the algorithm on its own to deliver the best page for the given search.

The trends in search are clear, all go in the direction of e-commerce conversations. People still make the first research on products on their mobile phone before they approach a store. Only 43% of consumers do online research while in the store.

Nearly 39% of all global e-commerce traffic comes from search, of which 35% organic and 4% paid search, mission critical to understand for your SEO.

To understand the habits of users we need to learn from them. 50% of search queries are four words or longer. 93% of online experiences begin with a search engine.

Now comes the shocking news for marketers. 70-80% of search engine users ignore paid ads and focus on organic results. The predictions into the future seem to be solid and we can read in on a daily base. Voice search and mobile will dominate the way users interact with search. Search engines will use more and more A.I. (artificial intelligence) to rank search results.
